What makes it different
- Moving to Denmark soon? Start with everyday phrases, numbers and pronunciation.
- Already speak some Danish? Take the level test and work on what you still get wrong.
- Want to talk with Danish friends or family? Practise real conversations until you can join in.
- Taking a Danish exam? Go straight to practice in the format of your exam.
- Just curious? Start with whatever interests you.
- Why your answer is wrongChoose the wrong word and you are told why that word doesn’t fit, not just which one was right.
- Everything in one placeThe aim is that you never leave an exercise to look something up: the words in it come with a translation, example sentences to listen to and a save button.
- Replying, not just translatingIn a practice conversation you hear each line and choose how to answer, the way you would when someone talks to you.
Why I built it
I started My Danish Tutor in 2026, while learning Danish myself after moving to Denmark. The apps I tried taught me words, but not how to hold a conversation, and every course followed the same fixed path whatever I already knew or needed Danish for.
Smaller things got in the way too. When I got an answer wrong, there was often no explanation or example to show me why, so I had to go and find out myself. And when I came across a new word or phrase, hearing it, translating it, seeing it in more examples or saving it for later meant leaving the exercise to do it somewhere else.
So I built the site I wanted to learn with.
